Strong influencer reporting starts with consistent definitions. Choose the campaign objective first, then select the few metrics that show whether it was achieved.
Match metrics to the objective
| Objective | Primary metrics | Supporting context |
|---|---|---|
| Awareness | Reach, impressions, CPM | Frequency and content delivery |
| Engagement | Engagements, engagement rate, CPE | Saves, shares and comment quality |
| Traffic | Clicks and cost per click | Landing-page conversion |
| Sales | Revenue, ROAS, ROI and CPA | Attribution source and conversion window |
| Content | Assets delivered and cost per asset | Usage rights and reuse |
Keep reach and impressions separate
Reach describes unique accounts exposed to content. Impressions describe total displays, including repeat exposure. Both are useful, but they answer different questions and should not be presented as interchangeable.
Give engagement rate context
Engagement rate shows interaction relative to a selected audience measure. A follower-based result supports early creator comparison, while reach- or impression-based results can better explain live campaign performance when analytics are available. Use one basis consistently within a comparison.
Read efficiency alongside quality
CPM and CPE help compare what attention or interaction cost. They become meaningful only when the cost base, platform, format and campaign objective are consistent. A lower figure is not automatically better if the audience or outcome is less relevant.
Keep ROI and ROAS distinct
ROI considers return relative to the overall investment supplied. ROAS compares revenue with advertising spend. Label each result clearly and state the attribution source so readers understand what the number represents.
Treat EMV as an estimate
Earned media value is a modelled media-value estimate, not revenue. Interpret it alongside the activity measured, the rates supplied and the reporting period. Avoid presenting it as proof of sales or brand lift.
Present planned versus actual
A clear campaign report pairs each actual result with its agreed target and a short interpretation. This shows both what happened and why it matters without turning every variance into an automatic judgement.
